A Mt. View Orchard | Wedding in Hood River, Oregon

7/24/2021

Yesi + Akira were so lovely to photograph on their day. I went to high school with Yesi, so it was easy to spend the morning with her while she got ready! It was already above 80 degrees when I got to her house in the morning, so I knew it would be HOT. I had asked Yesi to compile a few of her favorite things for the wedding, and I was able to create this gorgeous flatlay! Her dress was hanging on a small coat rack that didnā€™t work at all for photos, so I just hung it up in a tree and got this beautiful shot. The perks of being outside!

Yesiā€™s dress was STUNNING and fit her like a glove. Annoyingly one of the buttons had come undone a bit, but thankfully I was able to sew it back on. I love being able to help brides on their day in anyway I can. I swear the amount of times I am sewing something, or pinning something, or even steaming something! Itā€™s all hands on deck the morning of wedding.

The venue is Mt. View Orchards in Parkdale, and the view of the mountain is just phenomenal. The blue sky and beating sun just highlighted how gorgeous Mt. Hood is, and it was the most unreal backdrop for the ceremony.

When I tell you it was hot. It was SO HOT. I was wearing a white t-shirt and overalls and just sweating like mad. The wedding was a traditional Hispanic wedding with lots of conservative guests, and I was practically stripping off my clothes by the end of the ceremony. All the cute grandmas were no doubt questioning Yesiā€™s taste in photographers at that point! Thankfully post-ceremony we were able to go into the shade and cool down a tiny but holy cow, it was hot. Yesi walked down the aisle on a HORSE whose name was Carpaccio. He was feisty and in a bad mood and I was absolutely terrified of him, but we managed to get a few shots!

Yesi was supposed to get married in 2020, but it got postponed due to Covid. Because of that, she had an extra year to plan and design. All the details of this wedding were so perfect and it was such a blast to photograph. She had personalized napkins, tiny little salsa bottles to take home, a neon sign, and so much more. It was classy and unique and super fun.

The cake was literally melting in the sun, so Yesi and Akira had to cut it a bit earlier than planned. It was banana flavored, which I usually hate, but it was absolutely delicious.

Everyone hit the dance floor and it got WILD. Lots of different games, lots of laughter, and lots of bad music from the early 2000s that is impossible not to dance to.

When the sun was going down, I stole the couple and we headed down the road to a huge sunflower field. They actually got into my car and we left the venue, but it was SO worth it. The sun had cooled down, it was warm and still, and the mountain was just singing with beauty. Iā€™m so glad we got these shots. We had been talking about them for over a year and they did not disappoint.

When we got back from portraits, the wedding was almost over (whoops.) Thankfully we were able to sneak in a few more dance moves and the most beautiful bubble exit! Yesi and Akira are such a lovely couple, with a lot of love and communication between the two of them. It was the perfect (albeit SO HOT) day and while it was meant to be in 2020, it was worth the wait!
