A Couples Session in Hood River, Oregon

8/27/2019

Hi friends! First blog post, here we go. I’ve been wanting and meaning to write a blog for literally years. I get motivated, I even write a few out, and then chicken out and never post them. I love to write, I love marketing, and I love photography, so you think I would have figured it out by now, but what can you do.

Anyway, I bought a beautiful new lens the other day, the Sigma 35mm, and am in love. Thankfully, this gorgeous couple was willing to be my guinea pigs and spend their evening on the side of the road being models.

My husband and I drove around Hood River the other day to find a good place to shoot, and we drove past this little hill on the side of the road that was so beautiful and golden that I literally stopped driving and reversed to see it again. (I was safe I promise.)

The sun was perfect, the light was golden, and after setting up some music (Lizzo, obviously) we got cracking. It was SO NICE being in front of people who are actually comfortable in front of the camera. I turn into a high shouldered, awkward, blushing lunatic when I’m in front of the camera so it was so easy taking photos of these beauts.

Like seriously who gave them the right to be so photogenic??

My goal with this shoot was to capture the movement of the two of them. I wanted to make it feel like I wasn’t there, and that the two of them were just having a super photogenic not planned at all moment at golden hour. 😏

Although these two were so fabulous together, I forced them apart for some one-on-one. McKinley took this opportunity and ran with it. At one point he winked at me. 10/10. Sienna swished her hair back and forth and smized like it was literally her job and πŸ‘πŸ» killed πŸ‘πŸ» it.

I love so much how the grass helped me tell the story of this shoot. It really felt quite intimate and ethereal - with the golden light just absolutely exceeding all expectations. I got an EPIC shot of theirs hands (hands are so hard. Like, SO hard) that I’m really proud of.

I just love these two. It was so much fun - can’t wait for more shoots!
